What Kids Need to Know
The Insanity of “Snitch” Ideology
“It’s never to early in life to use common sense, do the right thing and forget about peer pressure” Velinda
One of the biggest mistakes kids make is trying to cover up for their friends. These foolish decisions can be costly, even tragic in the long run. Kids are not aware enough to properly discern how important the situation may be to not withhold pertinent information about another person’s welfare. Some examples of this are known drug use and trying to hide it from parents. Another serious one is too much alcohol and thinking one just has to sleep it off. Too much alcohol can lead to alcoholic poisoning and can cause death. Any behavior that leads to criminal activity. Seriously stupid behavior and decisions that show a reckless regard for personal welfare or the welfare of another person. All of these situations can be eliminated and helped if caught in time. Youth and young adults just simply don’t understand the consequences of such cavalier behavior. If you are a true friend who cares about another, so what if you “snitch” them off if you save a life or help to turn a life around. What if you didn’t “snitch” on a friend and something awful happened when it could have been prevented if known? What if that person was a family member? It’s never to early in life to use common sense, do the right thing and forget about peer pressure.
“So what if you ‘snitch’ someone off if you save a life or help to turn a life around”
If you are with someone who has had too much to drink, or is under the influence of drugs and out of control, they may need medical intervention. A life is not worth taking a chance with just to hide it out of fear of retribution. Don’t let your friends drive or be alone if they are under the influence or sick from substance abuse. Take their keys, get them help and so what if they get made at you. They will thank you later. Caring about people is caring about their life and doing what is in their best interest. And this says a lot about your character as well.
